Why Evo?

Evo Diagnostics was created to provide physicians a seamless option for diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in their patient pool. We utilize the latest state-of-the-art home apnea testing technology that has been evaluated to provide results comparable to a cumbersome laboratory hook-up for the specific diagnosis we test for (see Testing for more information about the strategy and the devices). In tandem with physician screening, there is  high confidence in the results utilizing the medical devices that we employ.

Our process is streamlined and professional. We ship an easy-to-use device via UPS to your patients. We provide context and support to your patients in preparation for and following administration of the test. Upon receipt of the device post diagnostics, a dedicated sleep specialist will interpret the results according to clinical standards and provide a formal report of the diagnosis with recommendations to your office (via fax, email or portal). Should you request it, we will forward the test results to the DME source or sleep specialist that you prefer.
There are other home sleep apnea diagnostic providers that purport to offer the same convenience relative to a laboratory study performed in a hospital or facility. Evo Diagnostics stands apart because we offer tailored customer service for your office and your patients. That is the essential component of the entire diagnostic process that many providers ignore.

We craft an individual communication channel for each of our referring physicians, including preferred conduits for reporting, recommendations and follow-up. We provide referring physicians a monthly compliance report detailing the current status of their patients. These mechanisms inform you of their diagnostic status as well as their follow-up pathway. We seek to assist your efforts at coordinating therapy with a reputable DME company or sleep specialist.

Ask yourself if you are comfortable handing over clinical sleep apnea diagnostics to a resource that does not take seriously the need for the process to place your patients well on the road to compliance. If you are not, you have only one option. Evo Diagnostics.

The Diagnostic Process

Utilizing American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) Practice Parameters and Clinical Guidelines, we identify patients that are not suitable for home sleep testing up front and provide in-lab recommendations. Most home sleep test providers do not inform you of these candidates even though you are responsible for their diagnostic and treatment pathway. At the other extreme, most in-lab facilities seek first to put every patient through an in-lab test even though current clinical guidelines recommend a responsible home test pathway for the majority of sleep apnea candidates.

Why Test Sleep?

The bi-directional causal mechanisms between OSA and a cluster of very common cardiometabolic dysfunctions such as hypertension, diabetes and obesity have become increasingly evident to the medical community at large, but reflexive consideration of sleep disorders as an insidious driver of those disorders is still hampered by the traditional idea of treating sleep disorders as secondary to other primary conditions. As the evidence continues to mount demonstrating the central role of sleep-disorded breathing, that inertia will increasingly be overcome.
Don't get caught in the old cycle! Diabetes, obesity and treatment-resistant hypertension should all reflexively make you suspicious of OSA to the same degree that loud snoring, excessive sleepiness and a large neck size used to. Take a moment to consider the numbers we are now talking about based only upon your own patient reservoir.

Check out our in-depth educational resources on the causal mechanisms involved in OSA under the Resources link. Until then: Screen for OSA!
